Best Things to Do in Stowe, VT

Stowe, VT is a magical place that I HIGHLY recommend visiting! If you can make it there in the fall, it’s even better. We went in early October and it was perfect. It’s the perfect destination for a road trip or a romantic getaway and there’s no shortage of beautiful scenery or things to do. The state of VT is such a gem. I’ve been several times now and fall a little more in love every single trip!

Visit Hollow Cider Mill

Hollow Cider Mill is an apple cider mill located in Waterbury Center, VT, which is just 10 minutes outside of Stowe. Their cider donuts are to-die-for, and you’ll know it as soon as the smell hits you when you walk into the building. I loved being able to watch them make the apple cider and they do free tastings!

Watch a sunset at Sterling Pond

Sterling Pond Trail is a 2.3 mile out & back trail that takes you up to Sterling Pond, which is absolutely breathtaking! This is a great way to escape the crowds and see more of Stowe.

Have a beer (or 2) at The Alchemist

The Alchemist is an incredible brewery in Stowe. It’s in a beautiful location and the brewery itself is so cool. According to their website, “This state of the art facility was designed to be as low impact as possible while providing us with enough space to serve our community and the growing number of beer tourists to Vermont.” Make sure to stop here if you’re a beer lover, you won’t be disappointed!

Grab a bite to eat at Doc Ponds

Doc Ponds is a great restaurant in Stowe that serves some amazing food! Whether you’re in the mood for a burger or seafood, you can’t go wrong. They also have a great beer/cocktail selection. It’s reasonably priced, the atmosphere is great, and the service was good too. We also enjoyed eating at Harrison’s while in Stowe, which is also amazing but a bit fancier!

Visit Green Mountain Coffee

I was so exited about this place when I realized that it’s the brand that makes the K Cups! They have a visitor center and café, which I would compare to a Starbucks. They have coffee, specialty drinks, and a few light food options. Make sure you stop here if you need some coffee

Go for a stroll downtown

Downtown Stowe isn’t very large, but that’s part of the charm! There are so many cute stores and a museum. We really enjoyed learning more about this history of skiing and snowboarding at the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum.

Visit the Ben & Jerry’s factory

I couldn’t go to Stowe without visiting the Ben & Jerry’s factory! It’s located near the Cider Hollow Mill in Waterbury. The tour was so interesting and we loved learning more about the history of the iconic ice cream brand. They even have a flavor graveyard (headstones and all), which features flavors they’ve retired. My favorite part was the fact that they serve fresh ice cream in TONS of flavors!

Have you ever been to Stowe? If, so what was your favorite part of the cute, quaint little town?! It’s a tie between fall foliage & Hollow Cider Mill for me. Make sure you get a cider donut if you go to Hollow Cider Mill… there’s a reason why it’s first on the list 😉
